Merry Second Winter... or is it Third Winter? Fake Spring? Either way, hope you're staying warm... and good news, things are about to heat up at the Granite Curling Club as we head into the playoffs! But before we get to that... SPRING FLING - THREE TEAMS NEEDED I feel like a broken record, but we are REALLY hoping we can get three more teams signed up for the Spring Fling Bonspiel This promises to be an incredible event No experience necessary -- and you stand a really good chance at walking away with at least some prize money $575/team It includes your Saturday Night Dinner & Party... nightly entertainment... great prize money... and so much more! Please -- if you're interested -- sign up as soon as you can so we can finalize our schedule... if you aren't interested, do us a solid and share this with your social networks, at work, etc. We really want this to be a success. CWP PLAYOFFS Let's start with the Championship Division A new League Champion and B Division Champion will be crowned this year. The top four from each division have advanced to the Semi Finals and they are: Format for Pool A & B: 1 v 4, 2 v 3 – winners go to Final Losers go to Consolation NOTE:
Winner: $200 & bragging rights Runner Up: $100 3rd Place: $80 4th Place: $40 CONSOLATION DIVISION All other teams (teams that finished 5th and lower in each division) will play in a special consolation showdown Teams that finished 5th and 6th will play twice Bottom 4 in A and Bottom 4 in B will each play one game and have one bye The winner of each game will be entered into a draw to win $40 The Playoff Schedule is attached (I've also copied it into this email) NEWS AND NOTES

We're down to the final few weeks of curling for the 2024/25 season - amazing how time just seems to slide right through the house. Some important updates to pass along your way NOTICE OF AGM The Curling With Pride AGM will be held on Tuesday, March 25th following curling The Agenda is as follows: 1. Call to Order 2. Approval of Previous Minutes (see attached) 3. President's Report (Season Update, Ice Breaker, Nationals) 4. Treasurer's Report 5. Elections 6. Season Winners (A Division, B Division, Spirit of Curling) 7. New Business
SEASON UPDATE The regular season will end on NEXT Tuesday, March 11th. DARTS will be the social activity. That will be followed by two weeks of playoffs (March 18 and 25). The top four teams in each division will make the playoffs. More details to come including an updated league schedule. Reminder: For playoffs, the buzzer will ring at 9:30pm. SPRING FLING BONSPIEL We have just THREE spots left for the Spring Fling Bonspiel and are asking anyone who is thinking of registering to please do so as soon as possible. We are trying to finish the program and finalize the schedule, so having final numbers would be greatly appreciated. Cost: $575/team Fun Fact: Did you know that when Edmonton hosted the 2014 Nationals and Ice Breaker Bonspiel -- the Bonspiel registration was $500/team... that's over ten years ago! This year's event will have nightly entertainment, a dinner and party at the Bison Lodge, tons of prizes and raffle prizes. It promises to be an unforgettable few days as we celebrate curling, community, and culture. TEAM EDMONTON UPDATE Curling With Pride is proud to be affiliated with Team Edmonton. One of their groups is looking to gauge some interest from our community. Please see below: Slow-pitch 2025 Survey for Queer and allies: I am organizing a slow-pitch team or set of teams for those of us either in the LGBTQ2+… or their allies who would like to play some slow-pitch baseball the coming year. This is open to adults of any age and any skill level. The tentative location is at Borden Park in Highlands, a field accessible by public transit or automobile, and just off the river bike route. A current plan is to have 5 Saturdays between May and July, 2 hours each, for us to gather and play. The intent would be to scrimmage for the first hour, play for the second hour. We’ll devise a set of rules that we can live with, the intent being to slowly develop a league that can allow us to enjoy a sport on our own terms. The only hard rule is that teams will be made up of any gender under the sun. We will try to obtain some funding to be able to provide the basics (bats, balls, bases) and so that registration fees can be minimal. We might have to set the upper limit at about 30 players, for this year, but that will all depend on how much interest there is. Below is the link to a survey. Who's ready for BINGO?! We'll heat things up in the lounge after curling tonight -- with another exciting game of BINGO. Hope you can join in on the fun! THANK YOU Speaking of heating things up -- how about that Ice Breaker Bonspiel?!?! A big thank you to the organizers and everyone who volunteered and took part in this great event. It's one of the hottest bonspiels on the calendar and we're so grateful to have had some dedicated members pour their hearts and souls into making it an event that catches the eyes of curlers from across the country. You have made our league proud! CURLING CLINIC Looking for a quick tip on curling? Need some extra practice? Or just want an incredible FREE experience?!? Curling With Pride is proud to offer a FREE curling clinic THIS SATURDAY at 10am. And don't think this is just for experienced curlers... this is open to ALL LEVELS -- from beginner to expert... this is free for everyone. It will be coached by Dana Ferguson -- who won the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Ferguson is currently the head coach of Canada's mixed doubles team in wheelchair curling and a development coach for the saville Community Sports Centre. Who better to learn than from one of the best on the pebbled ice. FREE CURLING CLINIC Saturday, November 23rd at 10am It will end by Noon And feel free to join us upstairs for a FREE post clinic drink! So come on down -- bring a friend or two too... a great way to introduce them to the sport of curling and our league! CANADIAN PRIDE CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP We will soon announce details of a CPCC playdown to determine which two teams will represent our league at the upcoming National Championships. Hey Everyone, As the calendar flips to November, we just wanted to say this season has been a lot of fun so far -- and it's been great seeing so many new faces! A reminder that on Tuesday -- we'll have TRIVIA after curling. CANADIAN PRIDE CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP How would you like to represent our club and city - at the 2025 Canadian Pride Curling Championship? We will be hosting the national event in April -- and we are now officially accepting submissions for representation. It will take place November 8 - 10 at the Granite Curling Club. Even if you're not competing, it would be great to see you come down and support our league -- and meet some new people. Kris and Stephen have put in a lot of work to make this event a huge success -- so let's show them some love :) OTHER BONSPIELS Looking to head to the West Coast? Get ready to pack your brooms! VIP Advance registration is now open for the PAC RIM CUP 2025. Pac Rim Cup Bonspiel - hosted by the PRCL - will be held January 17-19, 2025 $480 per team $550 for 5 players.
